If anyone can help me tackle this problem I would greatly appreciate it. I have a huge Excel file with a lot of formulas and hours and hours of work. When I go to click on one sheet of this file, Excel goes crazy. The error message is as follows:

The instruction at "0x3023f9f7" referenced memory at "0x00000002". The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on Cancel to debug the program

If I choose Cancel, the following message comes up:

EXCEL.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created.

The sheet that I'm trying to access when I get this just has a plot on it. I dont care if I lose the sheet. Actually if there is a way to delete it, please let me know. I can't even click on it to delete it. Every other sheet in the file works just fine.

Excel Facts

What is the fastest way to copy a formula?
If A2:A50000 contain data. Enter a formula in B2. Select B2. Double-click the Fill Handle and Excel will shoot the formula down to B50000.
This depends on what operating system you have, but at the least you will need to run disk defrag.
You may need some other utilities as well.
Depends on how fragmented your disk is... thats what the memory error is telling.
Run defrag, optimise if you can, and that should free up the file after a reboot.

Thanks, I will try that. This file is saved on a network drive. No matter which user tries to open it, the same problem results. I am going to start a defrag now and hopefully that will clear it up. Thanks.

Mmmmm, Something else may be wrong.
The Error message indicates one thing, but if many users get the problem, sounds like it may be something else.

Worth a try with Defrag, and repair on the local, but sounds like you may have to apply a utility to the file, or maybe even a recovery from backup... this kind of opens the field of possibilities.
