I am working in Windows 2000 Professional running Microsoft Office 2000 Service Pack 3 on an IBM Thinkcenter, Pentium 4, 512mg memory with 80 GB hard drive.

When I open an excel document by double clicking, sometimes, but not always, I get only the FILE/EDIT menu only, but not the document. If I open excel first and go to FILE, OPEN, and choose the same document, it opens fine.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
Hi fleming-law,

This is just a guess, but I'm thinking it has to do with the fact that when a file is opened via double-click Excel does not set the working folder to the location of the file, whereas when the File > Open is used it does. I suggest you go to Tools > Options > General tab and set the Default file location to the path containing the file of interest and see if that solves it.

My fingers are crossed.
