Error when trying to change link source

Hi all,

I am having difficulty updating the link source for some links within my workbook.

I am using the Edit --> Links --> Change Source method. Some of my links update just fine, for others I get a message saying "Formula is too long".

So, I figured I should shorten the path. However, this hasn't seemed to help. The current source is located in the same folder as the new source, so the path is the same text length. The actual workbook names are also the same length, and the worksheets have the same name.

I tried another method for these formulas that are apparently too long by using Edit --> Replace. Although it will replace the text of the current source with the new source and will calculate properly, once I try to save I get a new error message saying something like "Not enough resources, can't save external links".

Any thoughts? I don't know what else to try!

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
Try opening the current link source and the new link source before doing the change. This reduces the file path length when you work with the links -- it may get around the link length limit.
