Hi ,

I am in the midst of fundraising for a Gala Day and I need to creat tickets for a bingo tea.

I want serial numbers on them to avoid counterfieting. (Yes, it is that type of place)

I am looking to have the serial number in Column E

Due to the text the Rows are likely to be 4,8 , 16 etc .

Is there a simple formula I can use to generate a running serial number ?

Best,

Gary

  • In cell E4, put the starting serial number
  • In cell E8 put the formula =E4+1
  • Select cells E8:E11
  • Select the autofill handle in the lower right corner of cell E11 and drag down.

This will fill the formula in every 4th cell and increase the serial number.

Ha ! Thanks for that.

I am having trouble locating the autofill handle ?

Actually, you don't need to put the formula in cell E8. You can just put the starting serial number in E4. Then select E4:E7 and autofill down from there.

Thanks very much !

Is there a way to drag it right down the page ?

I am doing it one at a time at present ( I am hoping to produce in excess of 100 tickets)

Thanks again.

Yes. Don't let go of the autofill handle and drag it to the very bottom of the visible sheet. The sheet will automatically scroll when you drag the autofill handle to the bottom of the screen.
