I have a group of users who have a shared workbook on a network drive and they have recently started experiencing issues opening the workbook. The scenario is as follows:
- roughly 15 users, not all of them have issues
- happens on both 03 and 07 with latest SPs
- OS is XP Pro SP3
- Excel crashes, attempts to recover, and the recovered file strips off formatting
- no Excel addins are being used
- removing the share workbook features fixes the issue temporarily for some users
- when a user attempts to open the corrupt workbook, you can view the share properties of the workbook and it shows multiple entries of the same user having it open but it has crashed on their PC and no excel.exe processes are running on their computer
- no macros or VB functions in the sheet
- only one sheet in the workbook with roughly 3000+ entries
