Excel 2000 using GETPIVOTDATA()

I have a pivot table outside the workbook containing the GETPIVOTDATA formula. When opening the workbook containing the formula, the values are -0- until the source workbook is entered. Is there a setting, etc. to have those values remain whether the source is open or not?

I hate GetPivotData.
=VLOOKUP() is a lot easier.
