Excel 2003- How do I get an "absolute value"

Hi,
I am using excel to store a roster of people which includes a password column. My question is haw do you format the cell or the data to accept and display the value typed or pasted into the cell. There are special characters in the passwords and at times excel tries to read them as formulas or numbers. Thanks for your help.

The only way to do this, would be to preface your String with a ', this tells excel that the data is a text value.

You could also us text to columns to change the cells to text based cells. Be careful if you decide to dod that, since the cells you convert will do unusal things afterwards.
