I have created a template for my office. I would like to know if its possible to have a cell reflect the actual time the template was opened under the new title.

Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by
actual time the template was opened under the new title.

Would you like to elaborate more on that?
What time will it be recording? The time the template was opened for a previous session or a current session?

It is a standard template, basically a form that has been set up to gather information for a client. Currently each time a copy of form is needed we go to the template and then "save as" the name of the client etc. It is important that we record the time and date the transaction begins. The date is working fine. The cell automatically captures the date the file is open and saved under the new name, I was wondering if the time can work the same way?

When you have a template (.xlt) and you doubleclick it in Explorer, a new .xls is created. I think he wants to have the timestamp of creation of that .xls inside the .xls

Not possible without VBA I think, and not sure how to do it in VBA either.

Try formatting the date cells with a format that has both date and time, like "mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss"

Oh ok. I haven't worked with a template before so would it be possible for you to show the code for imprinting the date?

Just to clarify, you want the timestamp on the name of your file, is that correct?
