Excel 2007 suddenly can't open file

I had several spreadsheets open, including a fairly large one with 10 tabs and large tables of data. The file itself is 3.5MB.

I was working on the file, and I might have accidentally hit Ctrl-Z -- not sure. Suddenly the spreadsheet window vanished. No sign of my spreadsheet anywhere. The other spreadsheets were still open.

I tried opening it again but nothing happened. I exited Excel and it asked me if I wanted to save the changes to the spreadsheet, so Excel apparently still had it open, somewhere. I saved.

Now if I try to open the spreadsheet, excel works on it for a moment, then stops. It says "Opening spreadsheet.xlsx" with the progress bar, then that clears as if it had finished opening the file. But the file isn't open.

Any guesses what happened? Is there any way to recover this file?? Unfortunately my last backup is kind of old...

It seems that workbook is hidden. To unhide it try:
1. On the View tab in the Window group click Unhide
2. Under Unhide workbook double-click the workbook window that you want to display

Solution
Another suggestion:

When On the View tab in the Window group if Unhide is grayed out.

1. Still in the Window group
2. Select Arange All
3. Click on Windows of active workbook
4. Click OK

Thank you Vladimir!! That was exactly the problem. I had no idea there WAS an option to hide an entire spreadsheet! I'm not sure what you'd want that for, but at least I have my file back...
