Excel 2010 and Access 2010: Linked Spreadsheet can no longer update Formulas

I have an excel spreadsheet I use for multiple purposes including serving as a linked table for an access database. After I linked the table I can't get any formulas to work.

Calculations are set to automatic. I've closed, reopened, and unlinked and set from automatic to manual and back to automatic and it's still not working. I tried switching back and forth from xls to xlsx to no avail. Any ideas of something else I should try?

Thanks,

Bill
