Excel 97 vs 2000

Hi All,

At home I wrote a macro in which I used the function InStrRev(file, "").

When I'am running the macro in Excel 97 I got an error. In Excel 97 the function InStrRev is not avalible.

How can I use the function InStrRev in Excel 97.

Add your own function,

Function reverse(s As String, f As String)

newstring = ""
For x = Len(s) To 1 Step -1
newstring = newstring & Mid(s, x, 1)
Next
reverse = InStr(1, newstring, f)

End Function

That was what I was looking for. I use it to close a file.
I open the file with Application.GetOpenFileName.
Collect data from the file and close it.
The problem was that the data is not always in the same drive and/or directory.

With your function I can calculate the positie of the .

I only put the next code to it

position = Len(filetoopen) - InStr(1, newstring,"")+2
fileclose = Mid(filetoopen, position, 100)

Microsoft has a page dedicated to simulating the VB6 functions in VB5; and they can be ported over to VBA5.

It's not hard, there is a trick or two, however. Do a search on this url, within MrExcel. Chances are you will find my comments.
