Excel Add-In Errors

I removed an excel add-in but it still appears on the menu bar.
I can't seem to remove it, clicking on it causes an error saying it can't find the file.

Additionally, when I try to open it from the tools->add-in
Excel errors "unable to read-file" a few times. I click through these and then the add-in that I want to remove does not appear in the list.

So I was wondering if there is a forced method to remove excel add-ins? Is there an ini or configuration file that lets excel find the list of add-ins?
