Hi all,

I am working in Norway with excel solver, and it is in NORWEGIAN!!! So annoying! Anyway, I found the way to copy the entire folder where solver is placed, from my personal computer (in english) to the work computer (which is in norwegian)... and it worked. HOWEVER, there is a bit that is still not working. And for which I would like to ask your help. In Solver, there is a button for "Options"... in there, you can select for example if the model is linear, or if the model assumes non negative. I click them, tick them, and when I hit ok, a window appears saying "Your entry cannot be used. An integer or decimal number may be required". Then, I hit ok and I can see that the "Precision" and "Convergence" box has "0,000001" instead of "0.00001". That is because in Norway they use commas instead of dots. So I change it to use dot, but then the windowe that appears say that "Precision must be a small positive number". And it doesnt allow me to proceed any further. Do you know any trick of how to fix this? I hope so.

Many thanks!!

Veronica.

Welcome to the board.

If you have your English Excel install disks, solver is an option you can select during a customized install.

What happens if you leave it as a comma? If the work computer is set to use Norwegian regional settings (Control Panel | Regional and Language Options) a comma may be the correct usage. It regional settings could have been customized, so view that control panel applet and see what number values are exxpected. The regional settings affects all well-written modern progams, so even if it is an english version, the comma may be correct.

http://www.solver.com/suppstdmsgoption.htm links to the people that developed solver - talks about recommended size for that parameter, but doesn't address that specific problem.
