Hi, hope someone can help me here.

GBS_balance_2011-05-25.xls: file format is not valid

The above message appears with the book in question when I attempt to open it, not sure what this means.

Apparently it started yesterday afternoon, so the daily backup can't help.

It's a shared workbook, but there was a report yesterday of it not being shared.

I've only been told of this this morning and best I can guess is the file has corrupted, but I don't know how to retrieve the data in it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you hate GETPIVOTDATA?
Prevent GETPIVOTDATA. Select inside a PivotTable. In the Analyze tab of the ribbon, open the dropown next to Options and turn it off
i found the fix, detect and repair to recover the data, just had to do it manually rather than rely on MS
