Excel was tampered with one day and has never been right since. I click on any file that has been saved and is being saved. The file will not open. I have to click on any Excel document and then click file open to find the file and finaly open the desired file. How can I change this crazy way of opening the files? I want to just open it when I click on it. Not click on it and then choose file/open/THE FILE to access it.

Good Luck

P.S.- Have tried restoring any way possible. No go.

Excel Facts

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
Tip

It could be the USERS to the computer that is corrupting the files. Why would this happen? Why would some kind of configuration mess the opening of my files.

I had a similar problem some time ago, which just seemed to "happen".

I eventually found that Tools--Options--General--Ignore other applications
was checked. Unchecking the box brought it back to normal.

You might want to re-register Excel. This should re-establish file extension associations. Start > Run >
then type the following in and click Ok.

Excel.exe /RegServer

or

Open Window's Explorer > Folder Options > File Types

Find XLS and change the application to Microsoft Excel
