excel changes my values on open of a doc

i want to open a text document in exel wich has a lot of fields like 01 or 004.
but if i open the doc in ecel it changes the string values to integer and change it to 1 and 4. is there a way to open this doc without execl changing the fields??

Does the Text Import Wizard appear when you open the document? If so you can specify the Text format for that column at Step 3.

Otherwise you could format the column as 00 or 000 as appropriate.
