Hello, I've exported a file from Access which contains values in the following format
15-10-47
Excel has changed this value to be a date 15/10/1947. How can I change this so that the correct value is shown? (tried left, mid, right formula but get a value as if the format of the cell is text ie 17-45-5).
can anyone help please?

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
That's because the date 15/10/1947 is the number 17455 when formatted as General. What sort of file have you exported from Access? If it's a txt file you can specify Text as the format of the column when you import it. Otherwise you can use a formula like:

=TEXT(A1,"dd-mm-yy")
