Hi,
Excel 2003 user, I have noticed this for a while but not really sure how/why it is happening - hoping to leverage the board's vast knowledge!
Sometimes when I create a Pivot Table, Excel seemingly creates a folder in the directory with the name "filename_files", in which there are XML/HTML and CSS sheets. All of them when clicked open the original Excel file.
I cannot find any specific cause of this in Excel and seemed to happen randomly. As long as the created files are available, the workbook operates normally - however, if you delete the folder or any of the files, the workbook no longer works.
It may also be helpful to say that the majority of times this has happened, I received a data dump from a web program that my company uses; it's essentially a raw data file, although when you first try to save it, it does say it's a Web page and I have to switch it over to Microsoft 97-2003 format. The files in question appear to be in the correct format though so I don't think it's related...but you never know.
Appreciate any help/insight you guys have. If you need any additional info, I'll do my best to provide.
thanks,
Matt
