Excel Date - 2 questions

1. If Cell A1 states 18-Apr-2011 3230
What is the formula to make it read just as 04/18/11

2. If cell A1 has 18/04/11
How do I get it to format to the US version of 04/18/11

Excel Facts

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.
for the first one use the text to column and delimiter on space
for the second one use the text to column accepting the defaults on steps 1 & 2. step 3 change the date (DMY). This

You can do both steps at the same time.

Once you use space as the deliminator,and click next
The Date part is now only looking at the POST space deliminated value..
