When I try inserting some new text or do frmatting in Excel, it pops up message that "there are too many cells format" and does not allow me to edit anything in the file.
Kindly help me to edit the file as it contains lot of data which i need to change slightly.

Excel Facts

Highlight Duplicates
Home, Conditional Formatting, Highlight Cells, Duplicate records, OK to add pink formatting to any duplicates in selected range.
Thanks JS411. I have used XLstylestools as advised by you. It worked well and alllowed reformatting or editing the file. However, if I try inserting a sheet in the file from other file the message comes again. Is there any permanent fix for this.

What version of Excel are you using?
Does your workbook have many worksheets and many different formats?

That tool will clean up styles that are not being used, however if the used styles of the combined sheets exceeds the limit, then you'll need to simplify the formatting to get under the limit.
