Excel file too large to manage

I work in an excel file every week, and the file size is so large it crashes my PC. Is there any way to get around this? Would storing the file in sharepoint be a way of not using my PC's memory to open the file?

How much data are we talking about here?

If it is a crazy amount of data, you should probably look at breaking it up into smaller chunks (i.e. if you have a file that has a years worth of data, maybe have 12 monthly files instead).
Or, store the data somewhere else, like in a database program like SQL or Oracle.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try dividing the file up into multiple files. That sounds like the easiest solution.

If not already done ... convert (save as) the file to .xlsb format. This will significantly reduce the size of the file.

Verify the bit-depth of Excel
Is it a macro enabled book? Are there any Event items?
Do you get an error message or does Excel just close?
