I have existing Excel files that have codes in them. Now all of a sudden the VBA programs are not running and when the file is opened I get no alerts and some of the ribbon commands are greyed out. II believe it has something to do with trusted files or version conflicts. How do I at least get Excel to ask me to trust the file upon opening?

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
Are yoiu in design mode? Look for the icon with the triangle, pencil and ruler. If it is highlighted, click it and see if that clears you problem. If not, check if the file is protected and remove the protection.

Thanks but I just checked. It's not either one of those. I now believe it's a trust issue and these files are opening in protection mode. I've checked all the trust center options and everything looks fine.

Are these shared files? If not, see if the shared option is selected in Excel Options. Also check for grouped settings.
