Hi All,

I have a problem with opening Excel 2000 files (XP Pro and Office 2000). Everything was working fine for my client up until a few days ago. He uses the search to find his files and double clicks to open. Now when he double-clicks, Excel opens, but without any spreadsheet, not even a blank one. I copied all of the files into another folder, but they still cannot be opened from there. After attempting to open them, you can then go to File|Open and then locate the file in the folder and it will open. Anyone any ideas?

Regards,

Bill

Hi Andrew,

I tried the suggestion from Excel Tips, but when I put excel / regserver, it opened Excel and then came up with a message that it could not locate the file regserver.xls.When I tried excel /regserver(no space before regserver), it went into install mode and was looking for the office 2000 disc. When I tried with no space after the excel, it came up with the message that it could not find excel/.

Bill

Hi Andrew,

This problem has occurred before as you suggested and the remedy given was just as per your posting, but I have tried it and it does not work for me.It goes through a loading procedure, but at the end of it, there is no difference.
