I tried locking an excel document and i ticked a box that said protect structure, and then entered my password and now I cannot open the document. It is a white square on my desktop now with no options to do anything, it cannot even be attached to an email or deleted.

I desperately need to open this document bu am struggling! Please help if you know how I can sort this out please!

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.

no, i know the password, but i have no option of even inputting a pw. It is now saved on my desktop as a blank icon. you cannot even right click on it or attach it to an email...

I'm unsure what exactly has happened but it seems to be a high level of protection that i didn't mean to do when i checked the 'protect structure' box.

Has anyone seen this before?

That doesn't sound like anything to do with structure protection to me - it sounds as though you have a corrupted document or perhaps a permissions problem. Have you tried resetting file permissions on your hard drive?
