Excel Formula or VBA: how can i find a word from the column

Hello,

In Excel sheet,i wanted to Search a word in the column A if it founds in the column A then it should update word as "exempt" in the adjacent cell.
Please help me on this.

Example.

In Column A, i have a list of links and in column B, i have list of words. if b2 found in the column A then update the word as "exempt" in C column respective to the link where ever word is found in the column if not update as blank.

search B3 from the entire COlumn A and update as exempt in the column C respective to the link or else "blank"
as same as.
search b4 from the entire column A and update as exempt in the column C respective to the link if not blank.
.
search B5 from the column A
.
B6
b7
.
.

Example excel sheet:

Column A Column B Exempt(Col C)

www.facebook.com/profile/newpost.php /forum/

Please help me on this.. if you can find the formula for this.. i will be thankful to you and i will save our lot of manual work... Thanks in advance.

did you have a look at the COUNTIF function already? It allows to search for a certain word in range of cells.

Thanks for your suggestion.. i have tried formula to search a word from the cell and that was working fine but not efficient to my work. i wanted to search a word from the column range... Please help me to solve this problem...

You can use the same formula for all cells. For instance:

=COUNTIF($A$1:$A$1000,B1)

That formula can be copied to other cells, B1 will adjust accordingly while A1:A1000 remains fixed.

The same holds true is you use an IF function wrapped around the COUNTIF function.
