This may have been answered before, but I cannot find a reference ...

I have opened a large workbook originally created in Excel 2003. And in Excel 2003 the hide / unhide sheet function works fine. But in Excel 2007 when I attempt to unhide or sheet, some of the sheets cause Excel 2007 to lock up that forces me to use task manager to end the application.

Does anyone have an idea on why this is occurring? How to fix the problem, etc.

Thanks,

Steve

Excel Facts

Test for Multiple Conditions in IF?
Use AND(test, test, test, test) or OR(test, test, test, ...) as the logical_test argument of IF.
Try saving the file in Excel 2007 format then opening that copy and using Hide/Unhide

the save as wasn't an option for us. We were using .xlsm excel macro files and Office 2010. Since MS doesn't seem to wanna fix this issue we found a work around.

After you have the file open select 1 row, or 1 column then click the Home tab, and to the far right, click the little down arrow on Format.
Choose the row height(to unhide rows) or Column width(to unhide Columns) and set it to whatever number you need. this will unhide the items and shouldn't hang.
