I am trying to do this,

If a cell on a spreadsheet equals (ex.wbs17404) then a name will automatically be attached to the cell in front on that cell.

Ex. if I had a list of names (20) from A1 thru A20, and I cut and pasted a list of numbers 1 thru 20 in column B then excell would automatically match up the names with the appropriate number ( as A5"John"="17") and the number 17 would move from B17 up to B5 Automatically.

I hope that this can be done.

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
Welcome to the board!

I have recently been introduced to excell and I love it. I just have some dificulties learning formulas.
For future references try using the Insert Function (fx) next to the Formula Bar and type in your search for the funtion you're looking for.

Hope This Helps.

Sounds like you might need a lookup table -- if there are set numbers for each name.
