We have a couple of users in our finance department that are having an intermittant problem we an excel formula that they past into word. Both Word & Excel is 2003, what they have is a collection of cells that have formula in them. They highlight the cells, copy then and then paste them into Word. Most of the time they are able to edit the cells in word, but on some occasions for some unknown reason rarther than paste the cells it pastes an image file of the cells.

For some users this works fine, for others nearly always they get an image file which needless to say they cannot edit. In this instance they have to go back to Excel edit the cells there and re-paste which is time consuming and anoying.

Anyone any ideas?

Excel Facts

Whats the difference between CONCAT and CONCATENATE?
The newer CONCAT function can reference a range of cells. =CONCATENATE(A1,A2,A3,A4,A5) becomes =CONCAT(A1:A5)
skully.

i'm not sure why the default is different, but couldn't the users PasteSpecial instead of a simple to Paste to ensure that the selection is copied in as an Excel Object as opposed to an image?

cheers. ben.

Problem explained in more detail

Having spoken to the users who have this issue I now have some more information. So this problem is in a monthly report they put out, what they do for a new report is edit the last months report. mostly this is fine, they are able to edit the excel object within word without issue. However on some occasions they cannot as for some reason it seems to have converted to an image file, though it could be the Excel Object has simply stopped working.

Am I right in saying the Excel object is linking back to a real Excel spread sheet or is there no linkage there at all?

This report is monthly sales numbers so they simply change the numbers to match those of the current month. Sometimes its fine and your able to edit, other months it does not work

any ideas?
