Hi,

I am creating a model for budgeting use, with each user having unique data. All the sheets will be stored within a directory structure to which all users will have access. What I would like to do is when I save their individual workbook into a specified directory, I would like to attach a username and password to each file that is unique to each user.

When the user then opens their file. they will be prompted by a dialogue box to enter their username and password which I will send onto them individually before they have access to the file.

They should then have the ability to change their password but I would also like to set an administrator password on each sheet so that I can access each one regardless of whether they have changed their original password or not.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Harv

Can you please

Hello llan_man:
Instead of setting the file permissions in the excel workbook set the file permisions in the operating systems file explorer. This will be ..
A. much more secure
B. allow you to have an administrative password as well as user password.
C. Authorized user's don't need to be prompted for a password each time they want to enter their spreadsheet.

If your using a MicroSoft OS just go into explorer and right click on file(s) , in drop down menu click properties and then in properties window click on security tab.

Excel's passwords are very weak and there is only one password per book.
