i own a childrens clothes shop and every 6 months i need to generate around 7000 individual stock codes. These are up to 13 digit alphanumerics in the format

AAA600018mon
TIM20013yr
ABC71237yr

is there an add in that will automate this given that there are certain items i need to control

first 3 digits - 3 letters representing brand
next 1 number - represents year
next 3 numbers - repr stock item from 000 to 999
last digits - represent size ie 3 months, 3 years

The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
Hello, Dareen,
Welcome to the Board !!!!!

i need to generate around 7000 individual stock codes
what do you mean by "generate" ?
at first sight it seemed to me you would need some datavalidation, but perhaps you're after something else, hence my question

kind regards,
Erik

by generate i mean i need to create a sequence of numbers in the following manner, here is a simple example

tim500011yr
tim500012yr
tim500013yr
tim500021yr
tim500022yr
tim500023yr
tim500031yr
tim500032yr
tim500033yr

this would reflect a brand called timberland, the 5th year we are selling it, no's 0001 thru to 0003 and in the age groups 1yr 2yr and 3yr.

we have 25 different brand names, as many as 250 numbered items per brand and the ages vary by each brand name.....and each year we need a new number too

thanks for your interest
