Hi Everyone,

Newbie to the forum, so please go easy on me!

I am trying to update some products from our website using excel, when I open the file as a csv into excel the barcode shows as a strange combination i.e

5.02E+12

I can then format the column with 'numbers' and set the decimal place to 0 and they will look fine. Then I go and save as a CSV and re upload but it flips the barcode back to the strange format!

Any ideas, I'm not that good on Excel so and answers would be appreciated in a simpleton way! :eeek:

Thanks in advance.

Will

Excel Facts

Easy bullets in Excel
If you have a numeric keypad, press Alt+7 on numeric keypad to type a bullet in Excel.
The number will be fine in the csv file. It's only when you open it in Excel that it gets shown in scientific format. If you save as txt instead of csv you will be able to choose the column's number format when you import the file.

Looks like I can only export from our web programme as a CSV!

I agree. This should launch the text import wizard. Then you can import the column as text...

I get the import screen, but don't really understand it! This is how the table turns out after I have been through the process:

I am sure this is me being totally useless!

Thanks

You need to check Comma for the delimiter in Step 2 of the Text Import Wizard. At Step 3 you can choose the Column data format.

Still not quite there, it has now seperated all the headers along the top but all the info below is totally messed up...
