I have an financial model in excel where calculation is set to automatic that will not update - even when pressing F9. The model is iterative and interation is on. The only way to get cells to update is to F2 into each cell and then just hit enter without making any changes and it will update properly.

Any global solution for this - we have had this problem on several files over the last several weeks.

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
Hi dellosso:

You might try to force the worksheet to calculate with

CTRL+ALT+F9

There is a difference between "not updating" and "status bar shows 'Calculate'" For the latter, there are some ideas in the first paragraph of http://www.decisionmodels.com/calcsecretsf.htm . Beyond that, look at his paragraph "Dependency Tree Limits" which indicates conditions where Excel says "enough is enough" !

Particularly note the bottom where with Ctl-alt-F9 you watch the status bar.
