Excel not notifying while saving txt file in excel

Hi everone,

If I open some text file in excel and save it (not save as) it is directly saved as text without giving me any warning.

Please help.

thats how excel works. it maintains file format. i will warn if there are macros in a book that was previously non macro enabled, but if you want options use save as

It was not like this earlier. It was giving me a warning message before whenever I try to save a text message in an excel file. But It doesnt warn me now since I changed my office to 2019. I believe some settings are changed.
