Excel Facts

Copy PDF to Excel
Select data in PDF. Paste to Microsoft Word. Copy from Word and paste to Excel.
Dont worry, I have done the following and it will not open.
Does anyone know how this might affect the spreadsheet

Open Excel ---- Office button ---- excel options ---- formulas ----- calculation options ----- manual..

Hi.

Yes it has always worked on this machine until today.

I can also open the file on someone elses computer with excel 2003.

To be honest I am not sure about the spec of the computer, but looking through the excel spreadsheet everything seems fine.

Sorry i cant be of more help.

If it worked before then its not the machine

does the workbook size grow on use by use basis

if works somewhere else its not corrupt...

but has someone else added a functional dependance that is not available on 2007 (some add-in)

is there an autoexec macro that runs when its opened

IS THE SPREADSHEET OPENED ACROSS A NETWORK? this can really affect things, has the drive its on got sufficent space to allow twice its size...

So many possibilities

Hi,

In response to your questions.

It is run across a network, though users with excel 2003 can open the file, 2007 users cannot.

Yes, it does grow on use by use basis.
No macros are running on it.
And no one has added a functional dependance that is not available on 2007.

Not really sure what else i can add???

I have similar problem saving an excel 2003 workbook after editing it using excel 2007 (because we have computers running both excel 2003 and 2007). After much crawling through forums, I tried to delete some sheets from the excel 2003 file and edit in excel 2007 again. After this, Excel 2007 does not hang when saving the excel 2003 file. The filesize was approx 18MB when this unstability occurred. Maybe if you were to open the file in Excel 2003 and chop it to below 10MB and try again? looks like to me Excel 2007 is not good at handling large Excel 2003 files
