Excel Olap PowerPivot Filters

When removing some field items from your pivot table based on an olap query, I noticed some filters automatically clear, where as others remain and you must find them on the field list and clear them manually.

I'm not sure what the driver here is... does anyone have an idea? google has not produced helpful results :(
