Excel opens to a blank page instead of the file I click on. If I open with recover/repair it works. If I click on recent documents, it works

Excel opens to a blank page instead of the file I click on. If I open with recover/repair it works.

If I click on recent documents, it works however if I try to open by double click on actual file, it opens blank.

Please advise on how to fix or trouble shoot?
