Hi guys, I have an issue where I froze panes, but when trying to print, the frozen panes do not stay on each page.

I can go to: print preview -> page setup -> sheet

There's an option there to "repeat rows at top" - but this option is unfortunately grayed out. This only happens for some of my spreadsheets.

See screenshot here: http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/5959/rnlw.png

Any idea why this happens or potential solutions much appreciated.

Convert text numbers to real numbers
Select a column containing text numbers. Press Alt+D E F to quickly convert text to numbers. Faster than "Convert to Number"
Frozen panes are not the same as repeated rows at the top of a printout. For the latter, you cannot (for reasons I have never understood) use the option in the print dialog. You have to go into the Page Setup dialog through the Page Layout tab and set them there.

Thank you, but when I unfreeze panes, the option to repeat rows at top is still grayed out.

I'm working with a pretty long spreadsheet so it's necessary to keep these top rows (my headers) on each sheet.

Any other solution?

How are you accessing the dialog to set the repeating rows? You cannot do it through the Print options - it must be from the Page Layout tab.
