Is there a way to create a range in excel (for example A1:L40, merged cells) where people can input their messages or image, and have that range linked to Powerpoint? I would appreciate any help...

thanks.

Excel Facts

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
I've never heard of such a thing. But that doesn't mean anything. I've been proven wrong so many times, I can only (safely) say "I've never heard of such a thing." ;)

Curious though, why not just put the image in the Powerpoint file?

Sure.
Just create the merged cells (Select A1:L40, rightclick and format cells, choose alignement and check the merge cells box)
select the range and copy
In Powerpoint file
on the slide you want it in, select Edit/Paste special
click on the paste link button
it should be on Microsoft office Excel worksheet object
click ok

Now add a picture or message to your merged cells in excel
you may have to update the link in PowerPoint.

This is not streaming and the files both have to be open (I believe on the same computer)

Why are you doing this? Just for fun?

thanks for the quick reply.
The reason im doing this is because im working on a project for work, in which i have to find a way to create a file on our network (excel) where the managers can input thier messages or images, and they get displayed on our production floor plasma TV screens. Im not much of a programmer, and have been able to acheive alot with just using excel and powerpoint.

So, i have a macro that updates links after a certain time period, and i just could'nt figure out how to link an image, if incerted in excel, and have it display in powerpoint.

ill give your suggestion a try and let you know the outcome... Again, i appreciate your response....

ha ha ha ha ha..... Just remember that if you do the impossible, it becomes part of your job description......

I figured it was something like that.

Let me know if you get it to work.
