Excel Recovery: is there way to open Excel through backdoor

I have an Excel file that I saved last night but today it will not open. I shared and did a test open last night and it opened but today it will not open.

What is the best Excel recovery software if there is no other way to get inside...

I added sharing and it was taking for ever to open, took off sharing and everything appears to be working--although the size of the file doubled in size,. but I got that fixed...
