Hi everyone,

I was wondering if someone would know if there is a software available to make Excel file run faster ? and reliable 100%.

I have some HUGE files and it take too much time to load and operate.

Thank you. Serge.

Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.
I am no hardware expert, but the computer you are running it on has a big effect on speed. So if you run it on a computer with a top notch processor and lots of memory and RAM, it will probably go faster.

That being said, if you have HUGE files where the performance is not good, that could be an indicator that Excel *might* not be the right tool for the job. You may have a database situation where some like SQL or Oracle might be a better option.

Of course, I am just speculating because you really haven't given us any idea of what your data looks like, the size of it, or what you are doing with it...

Thank you Joe for responding, and you are right my computer is a part of the problem, the ram and processor are not strong enough for the job and my file is about 70Mb with 102 tabs, and 60 workbooks are full of formulas on 600 rows by200 columns average.

But I could not do it without Excel, my solution is to get a better computer.

I was wondering if they was a software out there for speeding up Excel that's it.

Thanks again Joe.

Best Regards... Serge.

70 Mb with around 8 million formulas?
That's too big for Excel.

As Joe suggested, you need a database to hold the raw data (and do a lot of the joining for you). If you have heaps of SUMIF or equivalent, and VLOOKUP formulas, that's a clue that a database could link your data up more efficently.
But you don't need to do the whole thing in a database; you can pull (filtered) data into Excel and perform more analysis there.

Maybe, but I'm not a Guru like you guys !! I wouldn't know how to do it.

If someone live in Los Angeles area and can help me with it, I would be more than happy to do it.

Thank you SydneyGeek.

Best Regards...

To answer your original question, I have never heard of any software that helps Excel run faster. I am not saying nothing exists, I just have never seen anything like that myself.

If you use formulas and/or VBA, there may be things you can do to clean up some code and formulas more efficient and run a little faster.

As Denis said, that is way too information for Excel if your goal is to have to have it run faster. Its not the right tool for the job. The data should really be housed in some sort of database.

You may want to take a look around for some Consulting Services to assist you, if you need help with that. In a big city like Los Angeles, I am willing to bet you should have many options. MrExcel also provides Consulting Services, though they probably won't be local (http://www.mrexcel.com/consult.shtml).

It looks like the have a web site:
http://www.turboexcel.com/over.htm

I got re-directed to this web site, saying that "Calc4Web" has replaced "TurboExcel":
http://www.calc4web.com/

Looks like you will need a C++ compiler and the software will cost you about $300. You can read up on it, and see if it is something that fits your needs.

I'd agree that a redesign is in order. If you have 102 tabs in a workbook, I'd suspect something could be done better.
Excel 64bit is designed for HUGE files (1GB+). For a 70MB file you don't need it, and I wouldn't recommend it myself (nor does MS generally).
