I operate in Office 365 and in an excel document I created, it has worked fine all of 2022, but yesterday only my own excel showed some major problems. It only shows on 6 tabs on the entire workbook. The worksheets changed the information in cells to literally coded gibberish. Yet, when the cursor is on the cell, the correct entry shows up top in the formula bar. However, how can i reverse this encoding data.
Even when I try to type in information, the text or numbers get reverted to code and yet, the formula bar shows the correct content.
What is this and how do I 1) correct it and 2) prevent it from happening again?

I need to get this fixed.

How to calculate loan payments in Excel?
Use the PMT function: =PMT(5%/12,60,-25000) is for a $25,000 loan, 5% annual interest, 60 month loan.
Hi & welcome to MrExcel.
What is the font for those cells?

Hi & welcome to MrExcel.
What is the font for those cells?
Arial 12
I tried to close Excel out and restart it. No go.
It's occurring on cells with simple data or cells with formulas, and again, only seems to be present on 6 tabs across the bottom only. The other 100+ tabs are unaffected.

In that case I don't know, it looks as though some odd font as been used.
Can you share the workbook?
Unfortunately, I cannot due to internal company info. But,
I tried a font change, and it yielded no results.
I'm thinking some global setting is off. I checked regional format, that's good.
Still digging into it.

Understood.
Another thing to check is the cell format, but I've never seen a custom format that can do what your image shows.

I did find on my own, that it is a formatting thing. However, It has a hard time returning dates when clearing the format.
But, I am more concerned in how it got triggered. Was it a keystroke or key sequence that caused it.

Unfortunately I have no idea how those cells were formatted to show that.
