Excel SQL Permission Options are Blank / Transparent

a coworker of mine has an excel sheet with a connection to a sql server. In order to connect, he has to set up his credentials in the permission tab on the data source settings. However, the whole permission tab is white and empty. (This Edit Permission window is completely white and empty)
I sent the excel sheet to another colleague to doublecheck, he is able to configure the settings.
Everyone has the same excel version.

Does anyone have an idea why this is happening?

Excel Facts

Remove leading & trailing spaces
Save as CSV to remove all leading and trailing spaces. It is faster than using TRIM().
