I use Excel tables, to storage my data set. Especially because of dinamic range, to prevent new data, when inserted, to become out of the name interval.

In small amout of data, it works fine, but when I get some exported file, with about 16,000 lines, and I convert it to table, it gets really slow.

Now I put calculate on Manual in order to be able to use the worksheet.

Any hints on how to use tables for large amount of data? Removing backgrounds and grid lines are basic... what else?

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
COUNTIF functions slow down calculation considerably. Care to share what the functions are you're using in your spreadsheet for this large dataset?

Thanks.

SUMPRODUCT
IF
ISNUMBER
FIND

But only a single dataset, with 16,000 lines, with no calcultions, was taking ages do change a number format.

Create a help column to concatenate selected columns to make your records unique. Perform calculations on this help column.
