Excel with macros running on a server issue

I have an Excel workbook with a lots of marcos and lots of data. It can be up to 50mb in size at times. <o></o>
<o></o>
On a standard laptop is saved and opened in under 30 seconds.<o></o>
<o></o>
When added to a server, the files take a while to open and up to 20 minutes to save (please not the original laptop is was built on is not connected to the server).<o></o>
<o></o>
The macros take ages to run too. Much longer than when they were not on the server.<o></o>
<o></o>
The computers on the server are of a similar specification to the laptop the workbook was test and built on.<o></o>
<o></o>
The files were taken of the server and open and closed on the individual PCs. There wer no performance improvements.<o></o>
<o></o>
Has anybody got any insight into this or have you experienced something similar? If you have, please can you share what your resolution was? This will be much appreciated.<o></o>
