Excel won't calculate

I have created a large spreadsheet with many references within the spreadsheet. At some point, the references in cells stopped updating unless I manually enter into the cell and push enter. For instance - in one cell I reference G13 on another tab - if I go to G13 on the other tab and modify the number and come back to the cell that references it, the old number remains. The only way to get the cell to update is to click my cursor into the cell reference and push enter.

I have had this problem once before - excel not calculating. Always in conjunction with very large spreadsheet. I know that there are not circular references which affect the calculations in question, also, I have made sure that "automatic" is chosen in the options tab.

Do you have any ideas on what I can do?

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.
Welcome to MrExcel - have you checked to see if calculation is set to automatic?
