I would like to enter a bunch of data in one Excel worksheet and have it automatically link to numerous Word documents. Therefore, when make any changes to the Excel worksheet, it will change ALL the linked data in Word docs.

This is something Excel has been great at since the begining:
It may depend a bit on the version of excel/word/office you are using, but
copy data from Excel
when you paste into Word, choose the link option
