Within Excel, I'm trying to use a password protected Access DB. From the data tab, selecting "From Access," after I locate the DB, a "Database Password" box pops up. Entering the database password just refreshes the screen.

After attempting several times, I decide to connect to the same database, located on a different drive with the password removed. Everything works fine.

I'm thinking this is bug within Microsoft. Has anyone come up with a solution? I'm assuming I need to write a connection string, but I'll need some assistance.

Thanks in advance!!

How can you turn a range sideways?
Copy the range. Select a blank cell. Right-click, Paste Special, then choose Transpose.
I can confirm this with Access 2010 and 2013 to make it work.

1) Go into the Database in Exclusive Mode and Remove the Encrypted Password
2) in the File -> Options -> Client Settings -> Make sure to have the "Use Legacy Encryption" marked
3) Close the Database
4) Open up the Database in Exclusive Mode and Input a New Password

The Excel to Access Connection will now work with the password. Additionally you could also save the password in the connection property after doing so.

Thanks Terry. I had seen these instructions before, and when I tried them, they had no effect.

I must have been doing something wrong. When I followed your instructions, it just worked.

Thanks!!
