Hi I need a way to calculate exchange rate. If entering a foreign currency in a cell I want it to change to US$ but if entering US$ in the cell no change takes place.

Example

If entering Baht in cell it converts entry to show US$ but if US$ are entered in cell the no change shows what is entered.

The foreign currency rate will come from a cell with the exchange rate.

Excel Facts

Control Word Wrap
Press Alt+Enter to move to a new row in a cell. Lets you control where the words wrap.
How is the entered amount identified as being baht or US$? Do you put the currency in a column befor the amount?

Hi konew1 thanks for the reply. Good question, there is no room on the sheet for another column. Can it be identified with a character infront of the entered amount?

Maybe like this B1,386 B=Baht and the conversion takes place but if $1,386 entered no conversion just shows entered amount.

konew1 what would probably be better is in the total cell it adds all the cells with $ sign and also converts the cells with B sign to US$ and then adds to the ones with $ sign giving the total in US$

I have difficulty consistantly identifying currency by the format of the cell using CELL("format",. Someone else might help.
