exel file become 0 kb.

Hi everyone, I have problem with exel file become 0 kb. This file before I used office 2003 with old Hp notebook but I transfer to my new macbook air with 2 OS ( 1 windows , 2 ios ) and ms office 2010. When just transfer this file to new macbook, every files is work well. After 1 year later, now my exel files start to have problem 1 by 1. I try to open this exel file both in Windows and IOS but it doesn't work at all, only show the message below.
"The file you are trying to open ' own statement.xls' is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not currupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?"

Please kindly help me about this problem.

0 indicates that the file no longer exists in a useable format at all, using clean backups, start excel, open the file and save to a safe location mac and ms have differences
