Mornin everyone. Really quick question to expand on something im using now anyway..

At the moment, I log who opens a particular sheet by grabbing thier login id, the name they are using in excel, and the time.

Code:
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
    Open ThisWorkbook.Path & "\usage.log" For Append As #1
    Print #1, Environ("USERNAME"), Application.UserName, Now
    Close #1
    Reset
End Sub

What i would like to add to this is weather or not they opened it in read only, or write access mode. Does anyone have any suggestions for this?

Excel Facts

What is the fastest way to copy a formula?
If A2:A50000 contain data. Enter a formula in B2. Select B2. Double-click the Fill Handle and Excel will shoot the formula down to B50000.
Sure you can work out the rest...

Code:
If ActiveWorkbook.ReadOnly = True Then
MsgBox "This workbook is opened as read-only"
Else
MsgBox "This workbook is opened as write-access"
End If

Yup...I think I got it worked out just fine! Excel can be such a rat sometimes!

Thank you BIG time!

Code:
If ActiveWorkbook.ReadOnly = True Then
Print #1, "This workbook is opened as read-only"
            Else
Print #1, "This workbook is opened as write-access"
    End If
